SENIOR CENTER REOPENING GUIDELINES – MARCH 2021

THESE GUIDELINES WILL BE ENFORCED UNTIL RECOMMENDATIONS CHANGE. ALL GUIDELINES ARE FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR MEMBERS AND STAFF, WHICH IS OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY. PLEASE DO A SELF-ASSESSMENT OF YOUR PERSONAL RISK BEFORE PARTICIPATING IN ANY ACITIVITY AT OUR SENIOR CENTER.  IF YOU DON’T FEEL COMFORTABLE OR CAN’T FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES YOU SHOULD CONSIDER WAITING TO RETURN TO OUR CENTER UNTIL RESTRICTIONS HAVE CHANGED.

More than ever, it is important to remember if you are not feeling well, please stay home. This is for your safety and or course is the considerate choice for everyone at our Center. Please notify us immediately if you or someone you know who has been to our Center becomes infected with COVID-19.

It is mandatory that everyone wear a mask covering their mouth and nose at all times. There will be no exceptions to this guideline.

Social distancing of 6 feet is required at all times. Social distancing markers are displayed throughout the Center, please abide by this guideline. Unfortunately, there will be limited socializing at the Center. Everyone will be asked to go directly to your activity and then leave the Center.

We will not be accepting any donations for the Art Room/ Stitch & Chat Group, greeting cards, books or magazines for the library until further notice. We are now accepting Loan Closet donation items. Monetary donations are very much appreciated. If you would like to make a monetary donation, we would prefer a check in-lieu of cash.

Everyone will enter through the front door where their temperature will be taken with a touchless thermometer and asked a series of questions. If someone has a temperature or answers yes to any question, they will not be permitted to enter our Center. We will require that they don’t return to our Center until their temperature is normal and/or they don’t have any of their present symptoms for at least 72 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications. If they have been in contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 we require them to not return for at least 14 days.

The Senior Center’s front doors will be locked after the start of each days last activity. All activities require you to sign up and cancel if you can’t attend. If you need to come to the Center for any reason you must call to make an appointment.

There will be no coffee or snacks provided. Touchless water coolers are available.

We will not be selling greeting cards or craft items until further notice.

EXERCISE CLASSES: There will be no weights provided.  If you want to participate in classes that require weights you will need to bring them to class. Resistive bands will be available for members to take home and bring back to use for classes. We do recommend that you limit any other items you bring into the Center. You will exit through the back door of the gym after your class.

TRANSPORTATION:  We will begin with limited destinations. Medical appointments will take first priority and rides to our Center for activities will be our second priority. Riders will be called the day before their appointment and asked a series of questions to determine if at that time they are safe to take transportation the next day.  The driver will take your temperature with a touchless thermometer and ask you a series of questions. If you answer yes to any of the questions you will not be able to use our transportation service that day. All riders and drivers must wear masks and only one rider will be permitted in the vehicle at one time unless the riders are from the same household. All riders will sit in the back seating area of the vehicle. Plexiglass barriers are in place between the driver and the riders.  All vehicles will be disinfected between riders by the driver. Due to the increased cleaning/screening time and limit of riders in a vehicle at one time, transportation volume will be decreased.

CONGREGATE MEALS:   Senior Nutrition will not be serving meals at our Center at this time.

COMMODITIES:  We will continue to distribute commodities and ask that you stay in your vehicle.  Please have room in your trunk for our volunteers to place your commodities.

OUTDOOR FITNESS ZONE & WALKING TRAIL: These facilities will continue to be open for your pleasure. Please remember to bring disinfecting wipes to clean off the equipment before use.  Social distancing of 6 feet is required at all times

LOAN CLOSET: If you need to check out or return a piece of loan equipment, please call the Center to make an appointment.

Remember the success of our reopening depends on all of us following guidelines that have been developed for everyone’s safety. The focus will be on critical and limited programming which is based on activities that allow for maintaining safe social distancing requirements and do not involve common or shared touch-points. Scheduling during this time will be important to accommodate member flow, contact tracing requirements and manage time for additional cleaning. As guidelines from the CDC and County Health Department allow and programming becomes more manageable the schedule and protocols will be adjusted for more activities.

If you have any questions please speak with a staff member, volunteer or email our Director at directorsjlsc@comcast.net.

ALL GUIDELINES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AT ANY TIME
